spitfire 90 - auction
HOW IT WORKS..

The contents of this page offer you the opportunity to take an active part in the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire by bidding on and hopefully winning one of the nine once=in-a-lifetime flights in one of our two seat Spitfire's that we've painted as K5054, the Spitfire prototype. The auctions launch at midnight on the 5th of March 2026 and run until the evening of the 22nd March 2026, with the first auction ending at 19:00 and the last auction ending at 20:45. Simply, whoever bids the most wins that specific flight. Please also remember that whilst the Spitfire we are using for this commemoration. BS410, is a real spitfire that fought in World War 2 it is not the original Spitfire prototype K5054 - we have merely repainted this aircraft to represent K5054 for the purposes of this event.
considerations prior to bidding
You will need to register with your contact details and email address prior to being able to place a bid.
Before bidding please ensure that you understand the following and that you meet the following requirements as listed below:
-
over 18 years old,
-
in good general health
-
be under 6 foot 6inches tall
-
be less that 107kg (clothed weight)
-
hold a valid UK passport and be able to bring it with you on the day of the flight
-
Where a flight starts or finishes at an RAF base friends and family will not be able to join you.
Our standard terms and conditions will apply to this event, barring the few differences created because these flights do no start and finish at the same location like our normal passenger flight experiences. You will therefore need to:
-
organise your own travel to the departure airport and from the arrival airport, and at your own cost
-
cover the cost of any accommodation incurred
Please also bear in mind that we are bound by fairly strict weather conditions and that technical issues can arise, both of which can cause delays to flight times and even days. With this in mind we suggest that you:
-
consider blocking out at the least the day after the flight date as currently planned as a back-up plan to ensure you will be able to participate in the flight purchased.
-
We will not be able to refund you for the flight purchased unless the event, or your flight specifically, is cancelled in its totality.
THE FORMATION ELEMENT
The individual auctions give details of the type of aircraft you might get to experience flying in formation with. Some of the flights have more than one type of aircraft planned for difference parts of the flight. These details are in the product description. At the time of the launch some of the elements may not have been confirmed so it is worth continually checking back to see as more RAF aircraft join the event.
Please keep checking our social media accounts for updates on changes to the formation elements of each flight.
Each of the formation elements planned should be expected to last for no longer than 5 minutes of the entire flight. It doesn't seem long but we promise that sight will stay with you for the rest of your life! We will also attempt to capture air-to-air footage of each flight so that you have a physical/digital memory of your experience. Our standard 360 cameras will also be rolling throughout your flight and will be included in the price paid at auction.
The formation elements promised in the auction by the Royal Air Force can not be guaranteed 100%. They, like any flying organisation, can experience technical issues with their aircraft and of course it is possible that political unrest anywhere in the world could mean that their commitment can't be honoured in case they are called upon to respond to that unrest. That said there is a agreement from the RAF that they will do everything in their power to deliver the aircraft as promised, or to substitute with it another similar type of aircraft if possible.
If a formation element changes while the auction is live and you are at that moment the leading bidder you will be emailed to notify you of the changes. You will be given the chance to remove your bid in that situation. If the auction is finished and the formation element changes you will be contacted to ensure you are content with that change, and given the opportunity to forego your obligation to continue with the flight. In this case the flight will then be offered to the second highest bidder and so on.
No RAF Aircraft will be launch specifically for the flight. 5 minutes will be added to an existing training requirement where flying in formation with a dissimilar aircraft type will is good and necessary training for the pilots.
If you're happy with all of this then please read on for your chance to bid to win each of the auction prizes......
