Not only are you flying a Spitfire today but also departing from a historic RAF airfield that played a vital part in the outcome of Worl War 2, where Lancaster bombers set off to attack the Tirpitz in Norway. To add to the excitement is the fact that its not just any Spitfire but one in the colours of K5054, the prototype that changed outlook of WW2. Follow your pilot in the footsteps of heroes, knowing that your flight today will take you over some of the most stunning Scottish Scenery!

As you charge down the runway, the noise of the Melin will blow you away and the acceleration is attention grabbing. The smile is building across your face, wow this is going to be Epic. Spitfires rarely make it this far North these days and you are one of very few who will be soaking up the epic views of lochs and mountains over Scotland’s finest and down the rugged west coast.  Just as you thought it could not get any better and your mind is racing with the sheer invasion of the senses, along side appears a modern warrior in the form of one of the RAFs latest fighters, the Typhoon! Oh, my word, menacing yet beautiful! Fly by wire and controlled by wires flying side by side!! You only see this at Airshows! Here you are in a special Spitfire in close formation with a frontline fighter!

After breaking away, you will struggle to process all of the experience, one for the bar latter this evening but for now, you will continue to sample, the harmony of the Spitfire controls, rolling and looping with ease over the Gorse. No doubt many below you looking up and wondering who was lucky enough to be flying free like a bird! The freedom mad possible by the very type you are flying in!

Prestwick looks on the horizon; you are arriving at the base of the wartime Transatlantic ferry service that played such a vital role in World War 2 with over 37,000 American aircraft arriving through this airfield to bolster the allied air operations.  A flight of 1 hour 10 minutes, soaking up History in the prime seat!  A story that will be difficult to convey in detail but etched in your memory for life!
