Date: 7th April 2026
Estimated Flight Time: 1hr 35mins
Probable Formation Element: BBMF Dakota C-47, the F35, and BBMF Spitfire Mk5
From the minute the engine starts to landing at the home of the BBMF, your face will be aching from constant smiles. A once in a lifetime opportunity, never to be repeated. A flight time of 1h 35 minutes, taking off from the home of the Spitfire, where K5054 first flew on the 5th of March 1936, climbing aloft over the home of Supermarine and the hallowed turf where Mitchell observed the first flight of this war winning iconic design. You'll be joined for the first 5 minutes by the BBMF's Dakota C-7, before it leaves you to go straight to RAF Coningsby where you'll see it again.
You'll head along the South Coast and 11 Group airspace that saw the thick of the action during the Battle of Britain. Take the controls, whilst gazing across that beautiful elliptical wing, imagining those who saw the same view in action, defending our shores. You will fly over the white cliffs of Beachy Head before turning North.
Near RAF Marham you'll be joined in formation with the RAFs newest Fighter the F35, an incredible sight, one never to be repeated. The old and new guard flying together, streets apart in technology but a kindred spirit.
Having said goodbye to the F35 next you'll join up with the RAFs BBMF Dakota C-47 and one of BBMF's Spitfires in the skies of 12 Group of Fighter Command. This part of the country was home of the Bader Big Wing during the height of the Battle of Britain. Pass through that hallowed airspace where these brave men flew. Gaze across the cockpit at a Spitfire and Hurricane on each wing as you are escorted into RAF Coningsby. This completes the most formidable flight of a lifetime. K5054 will taxy past the RAFs Typhoon fighters at their dispersals and on to the BBMF hangar where you will park amongst their historic collection of Spitfires and Hurricanes.
