10 Group to 11 Group, The Battle of Britain sectors in the forefront of the the air war of 1940 will be your route today. Heading East, your amazing flight will take you along the most beautiful scenery, Devon, Dorset to Southampton in Hampshire! Not only will you be flying in the sky’s valiantly fought over by RAF Fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain but also to eventually land at the airfield that k5054 first flew, 90 years ago witnessed by R J Mitchell!

This 40-minute flight will be a truly emotional experience. Not only are you walking out to a wartime fighter at a WW2 fighter station, but you are about to be part of an epic flight along some iconic coastline. Very few people get to experience flying a Spitfire yet alone fly into the home of Supermarine. The designer of the Spitfire! You are one of very few!

As you depart Exeter and the wheels hit home in the wheel wells you will be blown away by her climb rate, the noise and sheer power! What a piece of Engineering and hear you are in the driving seat! Have a go at feeling how light the controls are as you head along the coat, Lyme Regis, passing under your wing and onwards to Weymouth which was the scene of many attacks on shipping by the Luftwaffe and then to Portland.

 

You will have time to reflect on the brave efforts of our fighter pilots defending our convoys, shipping and airfields from the might of the Luftwaffe often outnumbered 3 to 1. You will get chance to fell how light the aircraft is and experience the view of Dorset from both ways up! Just as your mind is racing away with the experience, you hear the callsign of an the BBMF's beautiful C-47, requesting to fly in formation with you!! Unbelievable and an incredible formation that you will not see ever again. 

As you descend towards K5054s birthplace and the last resting place of R J Mitchell, you will be well aware of why this aircraft meant so much to so many. You will have time to reflect on the great achievements of the British nation with this beauty! We all have a stake in her history, from grandparents who made, flew or just pinned their hope on the success of the pilots flying them to gain our freedom from oppression. You will have that prime seat in which to reflect on history!
