Airvan Pilot
About Sam
Growing up in Windsor, Sam was captivated by the commercial aircraft flying overhead into Heathrow, sparking a lifelong passion for aviation.
This interest deepened when he joined the Air Cadets at age 13, where Sam attended numerous airshows, visited RAF stations and partook in acts of Remembrance.
As part of the Cadets, Sam was fortunate to be awarded a gliding scholarship, completing his first solo flight at age 16. He later received a fixed-wing flying scholarship, achieving his second solo at 18.
To pursue a career in aviation, Sam completed his commercial pilot training in New Zealand in 2019 prior to the pandemic. He adapted to the challenges of that tumultuous time by working as an accountant. And after the pandemic, Sam pursued further aviation training, completing a tailwheel check and an aerobatic course.
In 2023, Sam joined Spitfires.com, where he operated the Airvan for its inaugural year of formation flights with Spitfires. Sam now operates the Airvan on a part-time basis while flying for TUI as a First Officer on the Boeing 737.
