Having obtained a Commercial Pilot Licence, David began his flying career working as a flying instructor and enjoyed flying aerobatics in the club aeroplanes whenever possible.

The opportunity to fly for an airline didn’t stop him flying small aeroplanes. And he was an active competition aerobatic pilot from 2005 to 2021, winning several trophies including Advanced National Champion in 2019 and 2021.

Returning to instructing on his days off from flying for a UK airline, he began teaching aerobatics and coaching competition aerobatics in a variety of types, including the Pitts Special and Extra 330.

Like many pilots, David has long held an ambition to fly warbirds. He began this journey flying and instructing on the T6 Harvard, which led to the fantastic opportunity to fly the Spitfire for Spitfires.com.
